Name : Mr. Ron Beurs

A Truck driver delivering house frames & trusses

Ron is a truck driver from rural Wangaratta, Victoria. He bought his Mahindra Pik-Up in Northern Benalla in May 2008. The two main reasons Ron bought the Mahindra were because of its towing capacity  & room in the back. He uses the dual cab 4WD mainly as a recreational vehicle that he can tow a caravan with & do loads of four-wheel driving in. Ron says he is getting fantastic mileage out of each fill of the fuel tank, which is so important these days. Even towing a caravan, it’s still great on fuel.

Ron has quite a tall family with his eldest son standing at 6, so they all love the roomy cabin, which easily fits them & all of their belongings on trips away.

Ron says that the 4WD handles really well. He spent two days driving in sand dunes. It did just fine & didn’t get stuck at all. That wasn’t the case for many of the others on the trip who did get stuck, & had to be pulled out! Ron has been very pleasantly surprised in terms of the vehicle’s capability. The comfort is amazing, & he doesn’t get cramps because there is ample legroom – great for adventure driving & long trips.

This was Ron’s first brand new car purchase in 30 years, & for the price he paid, he felt that it was excellent value. He test drove just about all of the other competing vehicles in this class & went straight back to Mahindra. The sheer comfort, dead quiet engine (he says his wife doesn’t even hear him coming home!), & how it handled on the road was unbeatable!

Name : Mr. Tania Lummis

An Owner & operator of Aminya Cottage Nursery

Tania lives with her family in Gilgandra NSW. She bought her 2WD dual cab Mahindra Pik-Up at the Naromine dealership in April 2008. Tania owns & operates a local nursery selling plants & trees both to trade & retail. The main reason she bought the vehicle was for the business so that she could make deliveries & pick up stock from the markets.

Since purchasing the vehicle, Tania has noticed that the fuel economy is fantastic, achieving more kilometers out of each tank than she expected.

The reason that the Mahindra appealed to Tania & her husband was that when they looked at other models in the same category, the difference in price was quite significant. And yet, the features that were included & what the car could achieve was essentially the same. The other options were just simply too expensive, so Tania went with the Mahindra & is really happy she did. Other than fuel economy, Tania mentioned that it’s the type of car that you can “thrash about” & it handles really well. It’s tough & can take the “beats”, which is perfect in her industry & the type of stock she hauls about & delivers.

Tania says that the vehicle turns heads wherever she goes. When she parks it, people always take a look at the car & curiously ask questions. She already knows of one person who looked at her Mahindra & went out & bought one shortly thereafter! It certainly leaves an impression.

Name : Mr. Rees Leyshon

Landscape Gardener & 4x4 Explorer

Rees bought his Pik-Up in January 08 at Clintons Motors in Campbelltown both for work & for play. As an avid four-wheel drive enthusiast, Rees was looking for a vehicle that could stand the toughest of tracks… and it has. A utility vehicle is a natural fit for Rees’ occupation, but aside from that he has four wonderful sons that he loves to take camping & four-wheel driving, so the vehicle has to be fit for both purposes. Rees was impressed by how the Pik-Up looked & he knew the large tray could fit all of his tools in the back; & on weekends & big trips, it could easily fit their camping gear, a little boat, bikes & all the luggage.

Before purchasing the Pik-Up, Rees read a few four wheel drive magazines that rated the vehicle highly. His research showed that the vehicle offered much better value for money than other competitors in the market. Since owning the dual cab 4x4 Pik-Up, Rees & the boys have gone to Cape York & explored some of the roughest tracks in the country. Rees said that it was brilliant on the roughest tracks & didn’t have a scratch on it, leaving many of the other expensive high-end four-wheel drive vehicles for dead! They’ll be taking the vehicle to the Kimberly for six weeks soon & they can’t wait.

Other than its durability, Rees loves the way it looks as it’s a little bit different than most, it’s also spacious & absolutely huge inside the cabin, which is perfect for him & his four boys on their trips away. He says it’s doing what it promised to do & is $30K cheaper than other competitors.

Rees has fitted it with a bull bar & tow bar, & says it’s bigger inside, has a bigger rear tray, & the quality you get for what you pay just can’t be compared to other vehicles in the same category. And it’s also great on fuel!

Rees’ boys who are 7, 13, 15 & 21 years of age love it too & always look forward to their next adventure!

Name : Mr. Craig Macey

A Metropolitan Truck Driver

Craig lives with his family on a 50-acre farm in Bungonia, NSW. Although Craig works in Sydney & commutes back & forth, his family chooses to live on a property where they can have horses, pursue recreational activities & live a lovely tranquil life. Craig purchased his 2WD Dual Cab Mahindra Pik-Up in Campbelltown, NSW in May 2008.

Craig travels close to 500km a week from the farm to Sydney for work. For this reason & the fact that his job requires that he sleep in the vehicle occasionally, he needed a comfortable car. He saw the Pik-Up in The Land newspaper, & one day driving in to Campbelltown with the intention of buying a new mobile phone, he ended up with a Mahindra Pik-Up instead, which he said was so much easier to purchase than a phone (which required 3 IDs!).

Craig says that even though the car is big & comfortable inside, it’s still very well designed for smaller people! His wife, who is shorter, can adjust the seat & reach the pedals easily, which she absolutely loved when they test-drove it. The gear stick is right there too, so there is no need to reach. Prior to the Mahindra, the family owned one of Australia’s highest selling utes & they found that it was built out of proportion & was really uncomfortable.

Craig loves trying something different, & the Pik-Up certainly fits the bill! He says that everyone notices, with people literally trying to stop him on the road to ask what it is, as they haven’t seen one before. There are over 100 people at his workplace & so many of them ask him how it’s going all the time. He just loves the fact that it’s uncommon unlike many of the other makes on the road. To make it even more his own, Craig has added a small statue of an elephant for good luck!

Craig says he loves his car as it carries what he wants it to, handles really well & is really good on the highway. This gives him great reassurance & makes him feel comfortable on his long trips to work & back. He says the family has towed trailers without a problem, picked up soil for the farm, carried large tool boxes in the back – the versatility is terrific! The fuel economy is great too & the turning circle is tight. All that plus the fantastic standard features & you pay at least $10K less than the others on the road! Why would you go with anything else?

Craig test drove a couple of other makes & said that a Korean vehicle had NO guts at all! When he test drove the Mahindra, what he loved was that the sales lady didn’t do a hard sell on him, she was quite new to the job, so the car basically sold itself!
